2020’s Line Up…
The Artists…
Bastille ReOrchestrated…
Due to phenomenal demand, BRIT Award nominees Bastille will take to the stage for two dates at this year's Hampton Court Palace Festival.
Following their 2018 ReOrchestrated tour, the evening will see the band reprise a selection of songs from their last three albums; re-imagining, deconstructing and rearranging the songs with a 20-piece orchestra and choir.
Rick Astley…
It’s one of contemporary music’s most unlikely tales. At the age of 21, Rick Astley emerged from the shadows of the Stock, Aitken and Waterman production house as their former tea boy became one of the biggest stars on the planet. His era-defining classic Never Gonna Give You Up topped charts the world over and catapulted the young Lancastrian on a journey that would encompass 8 consecutive UK Top 10 hits and 40 million sales.
In 2016, Rick celebrated his half-century by releasing ‘50’ - an album title that put a cheeky, middle-aged twist on Adele’s ‘19’, ‘21’ and ‘25’. “I thought rather than buying a Harley-Davidson I'd make a record,” he notes with characteristic dry wit. Having written and produced the album as well as playing all of the instruments himself, suddenly it was like he’d never been away. It raced to the top of the charts and began a seven-week run in the Top 10. In the months that followed, he sold 400,000 albums and 100,000 tickets to his headline shows.
Aside from the lure of that immediately distinguishable voice, the rest of Rick’s story has been consistently unpredictable. As for the years to come? It’s a matter of continuing to enjoy the ride, wherever it may take him.
Tom Jones…
Tom Jones’ 50+ year career has remarkably gone from strength to strength. Along with sustaining his popularity as a live performer and recording artist for five decades, he has garnered at the age of 75, the best reviews of his career for his most recent albums Long Lost Suitcase, Spirit In The Room and Praise & Blame.
Tom Jones has a fundamental interest in a wide range of music. Although he is well known for hits including It’s Not Unusual, Kiss, Delilah, What’s New Pussycat, I’ll Never Fall In Love Again and If I Only Knew, he is first and foremost an artist with a true rhythm and blues soul.
Sir Tom is indeed a living legend, one of the few musical artists whose profession began at the dawn of modern popular music who continues to have a vital recording and performing career to this day. His irresistible show traverses musical eras and genres, cuts across class divides and appeals to young and old, male and female, mainstream and cutting edge.
Lionel Richie…
International superstar Lionel Richie has a discography of albums and singles that are second to none. His music is part of the fabric of pop music; in fact, Richie is one of only two songwriters in history to achieve the honor of having #1 records for nine consecutive years.
Lionel Richie is known for his mega-hits such as Endless Love, Lady, Truly, All Night Long, Penny Lover, Stuck on You, Hello, Say You, Say Me, Dancing on the Ceiling, and co-wrote one of the most important pop songs in history, We Are the World, for USA for Africa. His song catalog also includes his early work with The Commodores, where he developed a groundbreaking style that defied genre categories, penning smashes such as Three Times a Lady, Still, and Easy.
With his most recent All the Hits, All Night Long Tour, Richie sold out arenas worldwide with a set list of his brightest and best anthems. In recent years, he also headlined festivals including Bonnaroo, Outside Lands, and Glastonbury, drawing the festival’s biggest crowd ever with more than 200,000 attendees.
Dido…
After five years of silence, Dido is back. Still On My Mind wafts in like a beautiful breeze, a chilled out tumble of sadness and joy, melancholy and bliss. That familiar voice is fully present, soft, intimate and delightfully conversational, caressing melodies over a subtle flow of beats, with an aching catch that tugs at the heart strings.
Dido Armstrong made two of the best-selling albums in British chart history. No Angel still remains the top-selling debut by a British female artist worldwide. The chilled out singer-songwriter notched up over forty million album sales across her career. Still On My Mind is only Dido’s fifth album in 20 years.
Dido’s return has been as much of a surprise to her as it will be to her fans. “To be honest, this album was almost accidental. I woke up one morning and thought I just want to work with my brother, Rollo. It’s why I got into this in the first place. We’re great together, I enjoy the company and we are so in sync. And in between having a lovely time hanging out with his family and walking the dogs, talking about music and the world, this album just sort of happened.”
Björn Again…
Global sensation Björn Again return to the Hampton Court stage with a sensational show of much-loved ABBA songs and 70’s fun, for one night only.
The internationally acclaimed show was created and founded in 1988 in Melbourne, by Australian Director and Musician Rod Stephen.
Björn Again has performed in 71 countries over 34 years, amassing over 5,000 performances and is acknowledged for initiating the ABBA revival.
George Benson…
George Benson gets back to Americana basics on Walking to New Orleans, the singer-guitarist's tribute to both piano-pounding Crescent City hit machine Fats Domino and the original rock guitar hero and poet, Chuck Berry. "I'm a great appreciator of the music made by both of those guys," the 10-time Grammy winner says of his double-barreled tribute. "They were fantastic. Chuck Berry was a great showman and a great musician, and Fats Domino cut nothing but hit after hit after hit."
